In 1886, the Green Hill Evangelical Association announced "a Sunday School and Prayer Meeting" held in a carpenter shop on the Green Hill property of Michael Shellenberger. A year later, Shellenberger diedand his heirs deeded a portion of his land for a church and cemetery.
The Keystone Chapel Mausoleum was built in the 1930s and contains 518 indoor crypts. The exterior of the building is granite while the interior, including the chapel area, is white marble accented by beautiful stained glass windows.
With such a long history of service to York County, you can see why so many families have come to view Mount Rose as "York’s Most Prestigious Cemetery."
